Over 4.1 million passengers passed through Spokane International Airport in 2019, a new record that includes another new record for outbound passengers.

SPOKANE – Spokane International Airport reached a historic milestone in 2019.

According to a Jan. 22 news release, over 4.11 million people traveled through the airport on their way to other destinations last year, a result of a 3.1 percent increase in the number of outbound passengers. Statistics from SIA show there were over 2.06 million outbound passengers in 2019, compared to the 1.998 million in 2018 when the airport set another new record for total passengers of over 3.998 million.

Last year was the third straight year of record-breaking passenger traffic at the airport.

"As the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene region's economy continues to advance, so does the demand for connectivity to current as well as new destinations," SIA board chair Ezra Eckhardt said in the news release.

Spokane Airport has an economic impact to the region of $725 million. It is served by six major airlines, including Alaska, Frontier and United Airlines, with nonstop service to 17 major cities such as Chicago O'Hare, Dallas, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Seattle, and beginning this summer, Houston and Atlanta.

"We are grateful for the commitment that our airline partners have made to provide greater and more convenient connectivity to the global economy for our region," Spokane Airport CEO Larry Krauter said in a statement.
