StageWest production is a holiday must see

Letter to the Editor

Last weekend I had the distinct joy of attending StageWest’s production of “Miracle on 34th Street” performed in live radio readers theatre style. Along with several seasoned StageWest actors, there were two actors making their live theatre debuts — and all of them gave stunning performances.

StageWest has been around Cheney for many years now, yet too many West Plains residents don’t seem to be aware of them. It’s community theatre, which means they’re all volunteers — they do this because they love doing it. But it’s even more fun when there’s a good-sized audience enjoying it with them.

I encourage you to be part of that audience this weekend. Their performances are in the lower level of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 639 Elm St., Cheney, accessible by ramp from Huron Street. Remaining performances are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday dinner theatre at 6 p.m. and Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Reservations closed on Dec. 11 for the dinner theatre, but check their web site (www.stagewestct.org) to see whether there are seats left for the performance only. Or call 509-309-9929 for more information.

It’s a good way to spend an hour and a half this weekend.
