Rockwood Medical Lake physical therapy clinic to close

MEDICAL LAKE — While the Multicare Rockwood Medical Lake family medicine clinic isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, the physical therapy clinic will soon be closing.

Rockwood spokesman Kevin Maloney verified the closure.

“It makes a lot of business sense to have one central location where you can still offer the patients that were in Medical Lake the same services,” he said during a telephone interview Monday.

He verified that the family practice clinic located at 725 North Stanley Street wouldn’t be closing.

“That is not in the plans that I’m aware of,” Maloney said.

Asked about Medical Lake-area Rockwood clients with mobility issues or who might lack transportation options to and from Cheney, Maloney admitted “that could be a challenge for those folks” who might need to make, for example, multiple bus transfers to attend their physical therapy appointments in Cheney.

He did say Rockwood was looking at transportation options to help mobility-challenged clients.

Asked in what form that help might come, Maloney replied, “finding what kind of service we can provide for them, or find a suitable place that can provide the services they need.”

He did not elaborate.

Maloney didn’t immediately know when the physical therapy clinic would close or the number of patients who would affected by the closure.
