MEDICAL LAKE — Employees of Bruchi’s restaurant made an unfortunate discovery when they entered the restaurant Thursday morning.

“Our safe was gone,” Manager Roy Garcia said in a telephone interview Friday.

The burglary was conducted through the restaurants drive-up window based on the shattered glass Garcia found on the restaurants floor.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department was contacted, the building checked and an investigation launched according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Mark Gregory.

Nothing else was stolen or misplaced, according to Garcia, a two-year Bruchi’s employee who has worked at the Medical Lake restaurant since March.

“We can only assume it was a previous employee,” he said.

Although he wouldn’t divulge the exact amount of money contained in the safe, Garcia did say it was “a few hundred dollars.”

The small safe was not secured to the floor, he said.

“We’re taking preventative measures to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Garcia said.

The Sheriff’s Office is checking Bruchi’s security cameras and other business cameras in the area, according to Gregory.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233, and to reference report no. 10171376.
