Cheney council debates leasing Anderson Road house

CHENEY – How much and how long the city should lease a rental property near its Utility Building provoked the most discussion at the Oct. 22 Cheney City Council meeting.

The property at 25 Anderson Road is owned by the Light Department, part of deal to acquire to parcels of property in October 2018 for $195,000. The city is proposing to rent a 1,782-square-foot single-story doublewide home on the smaller 1.61-acre parcel to a Light Department employee for $500 a month on a one-year lease.
