Medical Lake boys, girls ranked in Class 1A cross country

Cardinals host regional meet Saturday at Chewelah Golf Course in Chewelah

MEDICAL LAKE – The Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association ranked the Cardinals boys and girls cross country teams in the Class 1A poll this week going into the regional meet.

The boys were ranked No. 1, ahead of Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls), No. 2; South Whidbey, No. 3; Klahowya, No. 4 and Cascade (Leavenworth), No. 5.

Rounding out the Top 10 in the poll, respectively, are Cashmere, Charles Wright Academy, Northwest, Riverside and Columbia (White Salmon). Connell, University, Chelan and King's all received votes.

In Class 1A girls, Medical Lake grabbed the No. 10 ranking.

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) is ranked No. 1, followed by La Center at No. 2, King's at No. 3, Deer Park at No. 4 and Klahowya at No. 5. Rounding out the Top 9, respectively, are Northwest, Seton Catholic, Bush and Cashmere.

At No. 10, the Cardinal girls edged Goldendale, Chelan, Lynden Christian and South Whidbey.

Medical Lake boys and girls are hosting the regional meet Saturday, Nov. 2, at Chewelah Golf Course in Chewelah.

The meet is also the state-qualifier for 1B/2B teams from Northeast Washington.

Davenport, Reardan, Harrington, Lind-Ritzville-Sprague, Liberty (Spangle) and others will be competing in that portion of the event.

The Davenport boys are ranked ninth in the 1B/2B poll.

Northwest Christian (Lacey) and Pope John Paul II hold the No. 1 and 2 positions, followed by Manson, Asotin and Trout Lake rounding out the Top 5.

Valley Christian is ranked No. 6, followed by St. George's, No. 7; and Liberty Bell, No. 8.

Behind Davenport are No. 10 Life Christian Academy, and, with votes, Brewster and Three Rivers Christian.
