Bantams show league champ form with 30-0 start at Cheney

CHENEY – This was not the Homecoming Cheney hoped for.

Led by a running game that seemed to be moving downhill all night, the eighth-ranked Clarkston Bantams demonstrated last Friday why they are in a position to make a deep run in the upcoming 2A playoffs, using the 1-2 punch of running backs Eddie Berglund and Will Sliger to open a 30-0 lead en route to a 36-13 pasting of the host Blackhawks.

Berglund scored on runs of 13 and 23 yards while Sliger, who did the lion’s share of the work in rushing 17 times for 101 yards, got the game’s first score with a 12-yard burst up the middle on the Bant...
