Overnight closure coming to westbound I-90 at SR 902/Medical Lake interchange

MEDICAL LAKE – Travelers using westbound Interstate 90 near the SR 902/Medical Lake interchange are encouraged to plan additional time to help prevent delays.

In an Oct. 18 news release, Department of Transportation officials said that beginning at 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, and running through 5 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, westbound I-90 approaching exit 272 will reduce to a single-lane and that single-lane will detour through the newly constructed roundabout at Medical Lake/SR 902 and return to the highway.

Westbound I-90 will close to allow crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation to make preparations for the new overpass structure. Preparing the structure will allow crews to then set girders that will span over I-90 in the coming weeks. The construction is part of the SR 902/Medical Lake interchange improvement project to construct the parallel bridge over I-90.

Continuing is the reduced speed limit on I-90 between MP 272.30 and 273.35 within the limits of the construction work zone. The reduced speed limit is enforceable with fines doubling within the work zone. The speed reduction will continue through project completion.

Before heading out the door, travelers can find highway conditions on the WSDOT Travel Alerts page, mobile app and on the Regional Twitter account.
