Sheriff's offering women's self-defense

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is again offering a women’s self-defense course on Saturday, Sept. 24, between 8 a.m. and noon at 6011 N. Chase St. in Newman Lake.

There is a $35 non-refundable fee.

Women and girls ages 14 years old and up are encouraged to attend.

To register, send an email to SCSOTraining@spokanesheriff.org. Please include the name of all attending and an email address for each.

The class is an introduction to women’s self-defense tactics including deterrents, avoidance, and detection of a personal attack and includes a hands-on portion where participants will learn basic self-defense maneuvers.

The class is led by Spokane County Sheriff’s Office defensive tactics instructors.

Participants should bring note taking material, a water bottle, towel and wear athletic attire and shoes for the hands-on portion.
