Cheney Congregational Church

The installation of Matt Goodale as the new pastor of the Cheney Congregational Church is this Saturday, Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. He will affirm his ordination vows. The calling of Goodale to be our pastor will be affirmed by the congregation. This service and the reception following are open to the public.

At services on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m., Goodale will begin a sermon series entitled “Psalms: A Mirror for the Soul.” The Psalms show us how to be human and how to relate to God no matter the state of our soul. We hope you and your whole family will join us.

Young children can enjoy our designated play area in the back of the sanctuary with parents supervising children and participating in the service. Children age 4-10 are invited to join in Children’s Church following the opening parts of our service.

A fellowship time will follow the service. All are invited for refreshments and conversation.

Each Sunday from 4:30-6:30 p.m., youth from grades 6-12 will meet with the youth of other churches in Cheney. Dinner is provided. Interested youth are invited to join the group at the United Methodist Church.

Men’s breakfast will meet at Marketplace Bakery & Eatery and a women’s breakfast will meet at Bene’s at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. Interested men and women are invited to participate.

Our monthly series, “Things I Learned Along the Way,” is scheduled for Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Walt Powers will share what he learned before, during and after World War II. The presentation will last about an hour followed by cookies, coffee and conversation. The public is invited.

Church office hours are Monday 1-4 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m.-noon, and Thursday 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Please call ahead to be sure that someone is in the office. Goodale is available by appointment. Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Visitors are welcomed and expected. Coffee hour follows the worship service.

Adult education meets Sunday mornings at 9 a.m.

Mark your calendar for Nov. 3 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for Emmanuel’s annual Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon. This is a good opportunity to start your holiday shopping.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food, and personal care items for all ages are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Emmanuel thanks you for your continued support of this outreach ministry to our neighbors in need.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Eucharist is at 11 a.m. Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

United Methodist Church

Please join us for worship this Sunday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Pat Sleeth will be preaching the third sermon in the series, “By Faith,” based on the book of Hebrews. Before worship there are Sunday school classes at 9 a.m.

Sunday afternoon the youth will meet at the church at 4:30 p.m. All sixth-12th grade youth are welcome.

Sunday evening the adult fellowship will meet at the home of Ken and Edith Dickson. The potluck meal begins at 6 p.m. and will include a costume contest so feel free to dress up.

You may call the church office for additional information on other worship and study opportunities during office hours, Tuesday – Thursday from 4:30-8 p.m.
