Cheney Schools to hold levy forums

Cheney Public Schools has announced it will hold community forums related to the upcoming proposed capital projects levy on the Nov. 5 elections ballot.

The forums will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3, beginning at 6 p.m. at three separate locations. Those locations are Sunset Elementary Library, 12824 W. 12th Ave. in Airway Heights; Westwood Middle School Commons, 6120 S. Abbott Road in Spokane/Marshall area and Cheney Middle School Commons, 740 Betz Road in Cheney.

The purpose of the forums is to share information and answer questions about the proposed capital levy. Proposed for two years, the levy would raise an aggregate total amount of $4.274 million to "support the construction, modernization and remodeling of school facilities." The levy would be collected annually, commencing in 2019, and would result in $2.085 million being collected in 2020 and $2.189 million collected in 2021.
