Washington State Patrol officials have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed in a hit and run accident late Tuesday night on Interstate 90 in Spokane.

According to a Sept. 11 release, 26-year-old Yannel D. Mignonsin was walking westbound in the lanes of travel near milepost 282 at the Hamilton Street exit at approximately 10:47 p.m. He was subsequently struck by an unknown vehicle that then left the scene.

Mignonsin was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. His next of kin have been notified.

State Patrol officials are investigating the incident, and said they do not know why Mignonsin was walking in the lanes of travel on the interstate.
