WP golfers bring home Special Olympic state gold

Two West Plains Special Olympics golfers won gold medals in Washington State Special Olympics competition Aug. 16-18 at Battle Creek Golf Course in Everett.

Parker Sutherland shot a final score of 69 to win the Golf Level 1 Individual Skills M03 Division, besting two other golfers from Tacoma and Lake Stevens.

Peter Condon shot a six-over-par 79 to capture gold in the Level 5 18-hole individual stroke play in Division M01.

According a post on the West Plains Special Olympics Facebook page it is Parker’s fifth golf medal in as many state appearances.

According to the state Special Olympics website, 900 athletes took part in competition at Battle Ground Golf Course and at Everett Community College, Kasch Park and Boeing Fields.
