Kenworth Sales expands plans for West Plains facility

Body shop, service and parts department included in warehouse design

The Cheney Free Press reported in November 2018 Spokane manufacturer Kenworth Sales Company’s plan to build a new warehouse in the West Plains, just west of South Thomas Mallon Road on a 20 acre parcel located at 9010 W. Geiger Blvd.

Now, new details have emerged as Kenworth Sales Co. recently filed plans with Spokane County to build a $15 million facility to include a body shop, a service and parts department, a warehouse and office space. The two-story facility, expected to exceed 60,000 square feet, will also include space for truck sales and leasing as well as fuel sales, with construction to begin in April 2020 and completion slated for June 2021.

The structure is being built within the West Plains-Airport Area Public Development Authority.

According to the Geiger Infrastructure Improvement Project Summary released by the county last year, the building was expected to employ roughly 150 workers, though county documents indicate some of those will be moved from the company’s current 44,000-square-foot space in Spokane Valley.

According to county documents, Idaho Falls-based NBW Architects is designing the facility.

Kenworth Sales Co. originally purchased the site in January just over $3 million, according to plans filed with the county.
