Virginia (Ginny) Lee Bake

Virginia (Ginny) Lee Baker, of Cheney, died of a sudden heart attack and was taken to Heaven by Angels, on July 16, 2019.

Virginia was born to David and Janice Oleson on Nov. 5, 1963, in Tyndall, S.D. She was the second of seven children. The Oleson family lived in Springfield, Wall, Lead and Bison, S.D. during her formative years.

Ginny graduated from Bison High School in 1982. She was active in basketball, track, bowling, cheerleading and much more. Oh, the stories we could tell. The Prairie Bowl and Lounge, in Bison, SD, was managed by Dave and Janice. Ginny and the rest of the family learned to be good workers, to solve problems, and to give selflessly. These were some of Ginny's best traits. Her smile and sense of humor followed close behind. Ginny was full of faith, hope and love ... and the greatest of these was love.

She married Kelly Baker in 1983. The family traveled throughout the U.S. and even to Germany while Kelly was in the service. Ginny was a life-long bowler and made many friends through bowling. We also believe she might have been McDonalds' number one fan of unsweetened iced tea.

Ginny had been the main caregiver for her nephew, Carter Lincoln, for the last 14 years. Carter and Ginny shared a special bond and she will be missed. Ginny leaves behind four treasured children and four dear-to-her-heart grandchildren; Julie (Todd) Endy of Butte, Mont., children Austin & Addison; Jerome (Tara) Baker, children Alice & Lilly, of Saint Cloud, Fla .; Jake Baker and his fiancé Heidi Hartzell of Lake Placid, Fla .; and Josh Baker of Cheney. Others she loved include her parents David & Janice Oleson of Rapid City, S.D .; siblings Debbie (Jeff) Kribell of Brandon, S.D .; Annie (George) Cloudy of Sugarland, Texas, David Oleson Jr. of Sheridan, Wyo., Charles Oleson of Worthington, Minn., Violet (Dirk) Lincoln of Cheney, Lori (Dean) Jennings of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and lots of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Ginny was welcomed to eternity by her grandson Courtland Endy, her maternal and paternal grandparents as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of Ginny's well-lived and well-loved life was held on Saturday, July 20, in Cheney.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of the charities Ginny supported, Free Rein Therapeutic Riding of Spokane, Special Olympics Bowling, New Hope Clinic in Butte, Mont. An online guest book is available at cheneyfuneral.com
