Summerhawks split summer baseball record

Cheney’s AA American Legion team evened its season record at 4-4 with a 12-2 home win over Mead on Monday, June 17. The Summerhawks also earned a doubleheader split with Riverside on Saturday, June15, edging the visitors 13-12 for a win in game one but falling 9-6 in the nightcap.

Cheney opened its season with a doubleheader split on the road in Sandpoint, Idaho, on May 25. The Summerhawks won the opener14-1 but fell in game two by the same score. Cheney earned a 6-5 home win over Northern Lakes on May 29 before dropping doubleheader a on the road in Medical Lake on June 13-3, losing 13-3 and 5-4.

Cheney hits the road again this week, traveling to Deer Park for a doubleheader on June 18 followed by a single game at Mead on June 22. The Summerhawks take on Ferris in back-to-back home/away series, hosting the visitors from Spokane’s South Hill on Monday, June 24 and then traveling to Spokane on Tuesday, June 25.

The Summerhawks are coached by Mike Constantine. The players are Tate Heuschkel, Jed Draper, Jamel Chabot, Eli Chabot, Deven Helsing, Jake Harmon, Justin Ward, Gabe Gerber, Brady Benson, Karl Barsness, James Whiteley, Thomas Rineman and Ryan Barthels.
