Labor relations were at an all-time low within one cityof Cheney department, as three grievances had been filed and a couple more might be headed to arbitration.

The Cheney School District held its second annual staff recognition program honoring the district’s teachers, administration and classified staff.

Sign-ups were still being taken for Blackhawk Basketball Camp, which ran weekdays from June 14-30 at the Cheney High School gym.

Over 1,200 candidates for master’s and bachelor’s degrees graduated in the 89th annual spring quarter commencement at Eastern Washington University June 8 at 7 p.m.

Cheney Mayor Tom Trulove has announced the appointments of four people to chair task committees related to the city’s proposed Community and Economic Development Plan.

The Medical Lake Town Council learned that the city’s postal service was due for some changes but would probably never include door-to-door deliveries.

Eastern Washington University senior Steve Kiesel from Tacoma placed fifth in the 800 meters at the NCAA Division II track meet and was accorded All-American honors for his effort.

Kelly’s Tavern was undergoing complete refinishing and refurbishing and was closed for remodeling and installing new equipment.

Eastern Washington State College sent nine athletes to National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national meets in June.
