The Cheney boys tennis team stumbled in a March 28 match against East Valley, losing 3-4 after several disappointing doubles match-ups.

In singles play Cheney’s Logan Ray defeated the Knights’ Julian Gunderson 6-0, 6-4, while Blackhawk Jared Adams won over Ethan Graham 6-2, 6-1. Cheney’s Alex Rose lost to East Valley’s RJ McGee 6-1, 7-6 (3-7), with Trevor Stuart defeating East Valley’s Tate Gregerson 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, the Blackhawk boys struggled, with all three teams taking a loss to the visiting Knights. Cheney’s Jameson Powell and Mitchell Johnson lost to East Valley’s Ethan Van Cleave and Noah Haight 6-1, 6-1, while double team Sam Laughton and Austin Passey couldn’t quite keep up with the Knights’ Alex Marley and Kai Denton.

Cheney doubles players Ben Beamer and Alex Bowman took on East Valley’s Mckay Larsen and Chase Wiedmer, losing 6-1, 6-1.

The Blackhawks hope to come back strong against Clarkston April 9, and will compete in a Post Falls tournament on Saturday, April 6.
