Life imitates art

The Eastern Washington University Downtown Gallery will showcase student art through March 11. More than 50 students from Cheney and Westwood middle schools got the chance to display their work in the “Perceptions of Reality: The Art of Cheney Middle and High Schools” art exhibit. Story on page 2.

Clockwise from top: A wire portrait called “Music” by Lauren McIntosh rocks out, complete with a red mohawk; “Stormy Eagle,” an acrylic painting by Emiliya Medvedev, stands out against the stark gallery walls; Cheney Middle School Navi Islam-Zwart beams next to her scupture made out of folded paper titled “Shape-Shifting.”
