Jan. 7
A wallet was found on the 600 block of 2nd Street.
Jan. 8
Unlawful issuance of a bank check was reported on the 100 block of 1st Street.
Trespassing was reported on the 400 block of 1st Street.
Suspicious circumstances were reported on the 700 block of West 1st Street. A nine-year-old female wandered from her home late at night and during inclement weather conditions.
Mental health issue was reported on the 100 block of West 1st Street. Individual agreed to voluntary commitment.
Jan. 9
Third-degree theft was reported on the 500 block of 2nd Street. Cash was taken.
Kimberly S. Benefield, 39, was arrested on the 300 block of Betz Road for third-degree driving while license suspended (DWLS).
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 1100 block of 1st Street.
Suspicious circumstances were reported on the 800 block of Gary Street. Possible attempted extortion over the internet.
Jan. 10
Second-degree burglary was reported on the 2300 block of University Lane. Christmas decorations were taken.
Possible child abuse involving a high school student from another high school was reported at Cheney High School. Investigator are working with Child Protective Services on the report.
Jan. 11
Cheney police assisted Washington State Patrol with a driving under the influence report on the 1100 block of 1st Street.
A hit and run collision was reported on the 1000 block of Betz Road.
Jan. 12
An injury accident was reported on the 1100 block of Betz Road. Single-car rollover took place. Driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and cited for second-degree negligent driving.
Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 1000 block of Betz Road.
Jan. 13
A 10-year-old male was arrested on the 600 block of North 6th Street for minor in possession of alcohol.
A suicide attempt was reported on the 300 block of 1st Street. Individual was involuntarily committed.
Police contacted an individual on the 2700 block of 1st Street regarding a littering violation. Subject had two outstanding warrants, one from Spokane County Superior Court for failure to appear on possession of controlled substance charges and one from Spokane Municipal Court for failure to appear on trespassing charges. Police arrested Russell R. Wiford, 33, on the two warrants.

Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 800 block of West 1st Street.

Harassment was reported on the 200 block of South Jefferson Road.

Police requested assistance after responding to a reported rape on the 700 block of East Tara Lee Avenue.
