The Cheney City Council will hold a public hearing on ordinance X-58, “Development Moratorium South of Alki Street,” at it’s regular meeting next Tuesday, Jan. 22. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 606 2nd St.

The purpose of the hearing is to gather public comment on the moratorium that was enacted on Dec. 11 in response to public safety concerns surrounding residential developments known as Terra Vista on the east side of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific railroad tracks. The six-month moratorium runs through June 10, 2019, but can be extended a further six months by council action.
