Cardinal wrestlers win in Freeman

The Medical Lake Cardinal wrestling crew laid-out Freeman in Northeast A league grappling action on Thursday, Jan. 4, hitting the road to beat the Scotties on their home mat 40-36.

The Cards had one pin, scored two decisions, and one major decision, to overcome the six pins made by Freeman wrestlers. Four forfeits by the Scotties also helped bring home the win.

Cardinal Fabian Vargas won a 13-1 major in the 132 weight class. Nolan Doloughan gained a 6-5 decision in the 145 class, and Tanner Smitha earned 4-2 decision in the 152 class.

An undisclosed Cardinal wrestler pinned his Freeman opponent 1:06 in the 220 weight class.

The Cardinal wrestling crew met Newport on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and Deer Park the following day. Scores were unavailable by press time.
