Churches

Cheney Congregational Church

We would like to invite you to join our worship service this coming Sunday. During pastor Dave’s absence, Dr. Michael Folsom will deliver the sermon “Is the Christian West Still Christian?” Coffee and refreshments are served in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

If you are interested in joining the Church choir, practices are held Thursdays at 5 p.m. For more information call Kate at (509) 481-5234. Everyone is welcome.

There is still time to sign up for a dining group. It’s a great way to meet people and enjoy a delicious meal. Call Linda Early (509) 993-8017 for more information.

Our educational series “I Always Wanted to Know That” is open to the community. Please note it has been moved from the second Wednesday of the month to the fourth Wednesday. On Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. Carl Schwenn will give a presentation on Native American art. He will also share information about some of the many pieces of art which grace our sanctuary and narthex walls. This series is free and open to the community. Everyone is invited to enjoy coffee, cookies and conversation following the presentation.

For your contemplation: “When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the Kings and Princes are home, When the Shepards are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins...To find the lost, To heal the broken, To feed the hungry, To release the prisoner, To rebuild the nations, To bring peace among all people.”

United Methodist Church

Celebrate Epiphany and Holy Communion this Sunday at the United Methodist Church. As we read about the wise men bringing gifts to the Christ child in Bethlehem we will recommit ourselves to offering our own gifts of seeking, serving and sharing Jesus in the new year. Sunday school classes will resume this Sunday at 9 a.m.

If you are looking for a church home in the new year, please join as at Cheney UMC where you will find a warm and welcoming congregation.

You may call the church office for information on other worship and study opportunities.
