The Spokane Regional Transportation Council (SRTC) is looking for input from the public on an amendment to the 2019-2022 Transportation Program (TIP) that would add 27 new projects and change the details of 11 projects already in the program.

Detailed information on the projects proposed for amendment is both attached and on the SRTC website at http://www.srtc.org/transportation-improvement-program, scroll down to “TIP Amendments.” More information on the 2019-2022 Transportation Improvement Program can be found there as well. Hardcopies of both the TIP and the proposed amendment are available by calling (509) 343-6370.

A public comment period for the proposed amendment starts Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018. Members of the public are encouraged to provide input. All comments must be received by 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018. Comments can be submitted by emailing to contact.srtc@srtc.org, mailing to SRTC at 421 W. Riverside Ave., Suite 500, Spokane, WA, or by calling (509) 343-6370.

One of the new projects added is Cheney’s Washington Street Preservation. The project was recently awarded a total of $955,152 in funding for work that includes asphalt overlay, existing sidewalk repairs with ADA upgrades and utility adjustments on Washington from Oakland to Sixth streets.

Also, the amendment includes awards of $384,968 each year from 2021-2023 to Spokane County’ Commute Trip Reduction program for improving congestion problems on the Interstate 90 corridor by reducing drive-alone trips.

The TIP is a document that identifies projects and programs to be undertaken or constructed during the upcoming four years. It includes project names and descriptions, the jurisdiction sponsoring them, funding attached to each, and the funding source (local, state or federal funds).

The TIP is amended throughout the year as SRTC’s member jurisdictions have projects to add, change, or remove from the program; often as funding becomes available or projects move toward being construction-ready.
