Cheney Public Works budget looks at 2019 work

Permit valuations largest in years, water and sewer projects cited as need for fee increases

One of the biggest accomplishments for Cheney’s Public Works Department in 2018 comes from the building department in the form of construction permit valuations — an amount topping $82.1 million, making it the most profitable in valuations in the past five years.

That figure, however, is largely attributed to the almost $77.8 million in commercial permits, and those stem from two major entities in the city: Cheney School District and Eastern Washington University.
