Eagles earn All-Big Sky soccer honors

A trio of Eastern Washington University soccer players have been named All-Big Sky Conference as announced Oct. 30 by the league office.

Jenny Chavez earned a spot on the first team for the third time in her career while Allison Raniere and Maia Inniss received honorable mention for the first time in their respective careers.

Chavez wrapped up the regular season of her senior year with five goals and one assist to total 11 points to lead the Eagles.

Raniere led the Big Sky in shots and shots per game all season. She wrapped up the regular season with 62 total shots, averaging 3.44 per contest.

Inniss helped anchor a backline that has accumulated seven shutouts and only allowed 17 goals, which is currently a program record for fewest goals allowed in a single season.

The trio and the rest of the Eagles opened the Big Sky Conference tournament Oct. 31 in Ogden, Utah when they took on No. 3 Northern Colorado.

VOLLEYBALL

Eastern hits the road to Sac, PSU

As the 2018-19 season winds down, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team is preparing to head out on its second-to-last road trip of the year. The Eagles take on Sacramento State on Nov. 1, followed by a matchup at Portland State on Nov. 3.

Eastern is 8-16 overall and 0-12 in Big Sky Conference play. The Eagles are coming off two losses against Weber State (3-0) and Idaho State (3-0) last week at home.

In the 3-0 (13-25, 17-25, 19-25) loss to Weber State, Kamille Langford led the way with a career-high 13 kills. Catelyn Linke led EWU in both blocks (three) and digs (15).

Eastern was also swept by Idaho State (14-25, 17-25, 16-25) on Oct. 26. Langford led the team for the second-straight night with eight kills, followed by Linke and Kennedy Kaminsky who each had five.

COLLEGE HOCKEY

Eastern sweeps Montana Tech

Three goals by Will Mix paced Eastern Washington to a 3-2 non-conference hockey win over Montana Tech in Butte, Oct. 19 at the Community Ice Center.

The following day, Mitch Hunt scored twice and Matt Lucero once to lead the Eagles to a 3-1 win, completing a weekend sweep of the Orediggers.

The Eagles are now 9-1 overall and 4-1 in Pac-8 Conference play and entertain Washington State for a pair of league games, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. at the University Recreation Center.
