Brown will break the gridlock of divisiveness

Letter to the Editor

As I write this I am still in a state of shock. We recently had a yard sale in our rural neighborhood. I was told that a “conservative” person declined to come to the sale because we were “too liberal.” We don’t have a sign at the end of our driveway saying “liberal people live here” — all we have is a Lisa Brown for Congress sign.

I think it is a very sad indicator of the times we are living in when someone wouldn’t go to a yard sale because we have a sign on our property which differs from their political persuasion. The strange thing is we’re actually “independents.” We have supported candidates from both parties over the years and vote for a candidate based on what we believe they will do for our country, not which party they belong to.

By the way, our neighbors across the street have a Cathy McMorris Rodgers sign. We totally respect and embrace their right to their opinion — this is supposedly what our country is about!

How can we heal our country and make it a better place for future generations when our president continually fosters so much hate and division? Unfortunately, our current representative in Congress won’t stand up and say enough is enough.

I will be voting for Lisa Brown this November!
