SOCCER

Eagles rack up record 8-1 victory

With seven different players scoring at least one goal, the Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team defeated Idaho State 8-1 on Sunday Oct. 14 on Senior Day. The win is the largest margin of victory in program history, topping a 5-0 rout against Lamar Aug. 31, 2007.

Megah Drake scored twice, while Allison Raniere had a goal and two assists. Emma Vanderhyden and Sariah Keister each scored a goal and an assist for three points.

The Eagles are now 2-4-1 in Big Sky Conference play and 6-7-3 overall.

Eastern head out for their last two matches of the regular season next week as they will be at Northern Arizona (Oct. 19) at 7 p.m. and Southern Utah (Oct. 21) at noon.

VOLLEYBALL

Eastern drops match to Idaho

The Eastern Washington University volleyball team faced local Big Sky Conference rival Idaho Oct. 16 in Moscow, falling in straight sets (25-22, 25-19, 25-19). Eastern is now 8-13 overall and 0-9 in Big Sky play.

Kamille Langford led the team with 11 kills, hitting .222 on the night with only five errors on 27 attempts. She also had four blocks. Catelyn Linke also hit over .200 with seven kills and only two errors on 24 attempts.

The Eagles return to Reese Court to host three-straight, beginning with Northern Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m., followed by Weber State (Oct. 25) and Idaho State (Oct. 26). Admission to all regular season home matches is complimentary to the public.

COLLEGE HOCKEY

Eastern sweeps Western Washington

Eastern Washington improved its Pac-8 Conference record to 5-1 following a pair of wins over Western Washington at the University Recreation Center Oct. 12-13.

Bobby LaRue scored twice in Friday’s 3-2 win over the Vikings. Saturday night Mitch Hunt and Matt Lucero each had three-goal hat tricks in a 9-1 win.

The Eagles hit the road this weekend to Butte, Mont. for a pair of non-conference contests with Montana Tech.
