SOCCER

Eastern soccer road trip continues

Following a loss and a tie last week, the Eastern Washington soccer team stays on the road for a third consecutive game Sunday, Oct. 7, at the University of Idaho in a 1 p.m. contest.

The Eagles opened the trip with a double-overtime scoreless tie against Montana and then suffered a 3-1 loss Sept. 30 in Greeley to the University of Northern Colorado. Saige Lyons scored her team’s lone goal in the 86th minute

The Eagles are now 1-2-1 in Big Sky Conference play and 5-5-3 overall.

VOLLEYBALL

Eagles volleyball back at Reese Court

After a three-match Big Sky Conference road trip, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team returns to Reese Court for a pair of matches this week. The Eagles host Portland State on Thursday (Oct. 4) and Sacramento State on Saturday (Oct. 6). First serve for both matches is set for 6:05 p.m. and admission is complimentary to the public.

Eagles sweep Huskies in Pac-8 opener

Eastern Washington opened its Pac-8 hockey season with a pair of road game wins over the University of Washington Sept. 28 and 29 at the Olympic View Ice Arena in Mount Lake Terrace.

Ty Flynn, Matt Lucero and Bobby LaRue each scored goals in the Eagles’ 3-2 win over the Huskies last Friday. Austin Kirby, making his first start, turned back 37 shots.

In Saturday’s 5-2 EWU win, Jason Shuck and Lucero each scored twice, and Tyler O’Donnell made 16 saves to earn the win.

Eastern opens the home portion of its season this weekend at the University Recreation Center with games Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6 at 7 p.m. against the University of Oregon.
