Cheney Congregational Church

Another hot week. Looking for relief? Come and visit the members of the Congregational Church. Not the chilliest place in town, but the conversation is warm and friendly. The Congregation Church is interested in knowing our neighbors. On Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon – 3 p.m. we will be hosting an outdoor event. More details to come.

Heritage Baptist Church

The theme for our 2018 “Back to Church” celebration is “YOU BELONG HERE.”

Sept. 16 is “Back to Church Sunday” at Heritage Baptist Church. 2018 is the 10th anniversary of “Back to Church Sunday.”

There have been many changes over the last decade, but the prime change is the need for people to hear the truth about Jesus. Studies have shown that there are more people today that do not know the truth about Jesus than ever before.

National “Back to Church Sunday” exists to open the door of understanding with an invitation to come and give church a try. “Back to Church Sunday” gives guests an opportunity to get to know the real Jesus. Please join us on Sept. 16 and see the truth.

Our services begin at 11:11 a.m. and 6:06 p.m. at 1831 First Street Cheney.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Eucharist at 11 a.m. Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

Attention all college students. The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry, ELM, will resume in September with the opening of college. For more information contact Rev. Soule at 844-2553.

Fellowship breakfast is each Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday morning at ll:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

The vegetable garden boxes are planted and the vegetables are growing and ripening. We are now bringing fresh, healthy vegetables to the Cheney Food Bank for the rest of the summer.

For your contemplation: “When we are truly in this interior simplicity our whole appearance is franker, more natural. This true simplicity...makes us conscious of a certain openness, gentleness, innocence, gaiety, and serenity, which is charming when we see it near to and continually, with pure eyes. O, how amiable this simplicity is! Who will give it to me? I leave all for this. It is the Pearl of the Gospel.” Francois Fenelon.

United Methodist Church

This Sunday at the United Methodist Church, pastor Alissa Bertsch will continue the summer sermon series based on the book “Always Wear Clean Underwear and Other Ways Parents Say I Love You.” A new book study is being offered after church at 11:30 a.m. based on the book, “The Road Back to You.”

Sunday evening is the start of Vacation Bible School. The event, based on Daniel’s Courage in Captivity, will run each evening through Aug. 16. Family dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program of songs, games, activities and Bible stories until 8:15 p.m.

You may call the church office for additional information and study opportunities.

Four Lakes Community Church

Four Lakes Community Church is a non-denominational Village Missions Church. We exist to exalt the Lord, to educate and edify the saints and evangelize the lost. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. and worship service is at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome!

Our current sermon series is on Genesis by pastor Sean Carney. We will be beginning a Sunday evening “Truth Project” study at 6:30 on Aug. 19. Fall Bible studies and AWANA will start up again in September. Our worship services combine contemporary choruses and traditional hymns.
