On this date 50 years ago in 1968, the first Cheney Rodeo was held at the Fair Grounds on the Four Lakes-Cheney Highway just south of Jensen Road. The bleachers consisted of flatbed hay trucks lining the field. Ginny Strohmaier was the first Rodeo Queen. The July 11, 1968 Cheney Free Press showed some of the scenes.
