Huey Lewis cancels Northern Quest show, 2018 tour

Due to health concerns, Huey Lewis has cancelled his entire 2018 tour and will no longer be performing at Northern Quest Resort & Casino on Aug. 19.

"Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing," Lewis said in an April 13 Northern Quest news release. "Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can't hear music well enough to sing. The lower frequencies distort violently making it impossible to find pitch."

Lewis said doctors believe he has Meniere's Disease and have agreed he shouldn't perform until his health improves. According to information on the Mayo Clinic website, Meniere's Disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes episodes where individuals feel as if they're spinning (vertigo), and have fluctuating hearing loss with a progressive, ultimately permanent loss of hearing, ringing in the ear (tinnitus) and sometimes a feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear.

In most cases, Meniere's disease affects only one ear. The disease can occur at any age, but it usually starts between the ages of 20 and 50. It's considered a chronic condition, but various treatments can help relieve symptoms and minimize the long-term impacts on life.

"Therefore, the only prudent thing to do is cancel all future shows," Lewis said. "I feel horrible about this and wish to sincerely apologize to all the fans who've already bought tickets and were planning to come see us. I'm going to concentrate on getting better, and hope that one day soon I'll be able to perform again."

Full refunds will automatically be credited to each ticket holder's account. If tickets were purchased with cash, full refunds are available at the Northern Quest box office. In the news release, Northern Quest Resort & Casino officials apologized "for any inconvenience or disappointment this cancellation may cause."

Questions regarding ticket refunds should be directed to the box office at (509) 481-2800 or (877) 871-6772.
