Rolan sprints into spotlight

Former Medical Lake track star shines as a collegian, too

Former Medical Lake High School track champion Lexi Rolan is working towards mirroring those efforts at Eastern Washington University.

Eastern Washington University track coaches did not need to go far to recruit a sprint star.

Just a 10-mile trip down Salnave Road to Medical Lake netted them Lexi Rolan.

The former two-time 1A state champion in the 100 and 200 meters seems to have transcended well to Division I collegiate athletics. Among the proof was Rolan being named Big Sky Conference Female Freshman of the Year.

Rolan made her first appearance at the league's indoor championship Feb. 22-24 in Flagstaff, Ariz., and finished second in two events, the 60 meters in 7.45 seconds and 24.18 in the 200. She was also eighth in...
