McGee wins award for track efforts

After a successful showing at the Husky Classic on Feb. 9-10, sophomore Keshun McGee was honored with the Big Sky Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Feb. 13.

At the Husky Classic, the Bremerton, Wash., native had two top-10 performances against the elite competition.

McGee earned first place in the long jump with a mark of 24 feet, 2 1/2 inches, close to his own personal record of 25-0 which is second on EWU’s all-time list. Kurt Kraemer from 2001 owns the record with 25-3 1/4.

He went on to earn second in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 51-9 3/4. The jump puts him in second on EWU’s all-time list, also behind Kraemer with a record of 53-5 1/2. The mark makes McGee 18th in the nation and 10th in Big Sky history.
