Cheney Congregational Church

Cheney Congregational is now a “provisional member” of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC). This is an association of congregational churches that prizes the autonomy of individual congregations while seeking out the advantages of friendship between congregations. We will take up full membership during the annual conference in San Diego, Calif., this June.

We held a special offering for Feed Cheney through the Souper Bowl of Caring – a nationwide charity drive. Those gifts will be turned over directly to Feed Cheney and the information concerning the amount will be reported to the Souper Bowl charity. Join us when we announce on Sunday the total money donated.

We worship together every Sunday. Feb. 11 will be our communion Sunday as pastor Dave Krueger-Duncan was in Arizona last week. A special thanks goes to Mary and Ryan for their presentation of “The War Prayer while PD.”

Our congregation’s birthday is coming up on the Feb. 18. Look for more on this next week.

We are offering a unique opportunity to learn more about honey and take a fresh quart home with you. Feb. 25, Jim and Jenine will be hosting a honey tasting party in the fellowship hall following worship. You will get to try different kinds of honey and ask the people who really know answers to any questions you might have. Quarts will be available for a suggested donation. All proceeds go to the Cheney Congregational Church.

Come join us. We are a liberal congregation with an anchor firm in the scriptures. For more information call Krueger-Duncan at (509) 202-0842.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m. Coffee hour follows the worship service in the fellowship hall. Christian education for children through adults begins at 9 a.m. You may watch our pastor’s sermons on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney.

Next Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. will be Emmanuel’s ninth annual “Festival of Chocolate.” A monetary donation will be collected at the door. All monies will go to our Vacation Bible Day Camp fund. Don’t miss our door prizes, children activities and all the chocolate you can eat. Please plan to attend this fun event.

Ash Wednesday services will be held on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. All are welcome, visitors expected.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food, and personal care items are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7.

United Methodist Church

Join us at Cheney United Methodist Church where you will be warmly welcomed. Pastors Alissa Bertsch Johnson and Pat Sleeth will lead the service and continue the sermon series, “Stewardship With the Saints.” The sermon focus this week will be poverty. This is commitment Sunday and everyone is encouraged to return their pledges of time, talents, prayers, presence and money.

Sunday school classes precede worship at 9 a.m., a multi-age class for elementary and middle school students and an adult class discussing “The Book of Joy.”

On Sunday the adult fellowship will gather for an early Valentine’s Day potluck at 6 p.m. at the church. In addition to celebrating Valentine’s Day, we will also collect underwear and women’s toiletries for Hope House and Transitions as we celebrate ‘Mardi Bra.’ Come and enjoy the food and fellowship while supporting homeless women in the Spokane area.

You may call the church office at 235-4600 for additional information and study opportunities.
