Eastern Washington's masked Jesse Hunt goes to the basket in last Friday's Eagles' opener, an 82-61 win over Walla Walla. Hunt scored 11 points. Sunday began a 10-game road trip with a 79-69 loss at Pac-12 Washington and continued with stops at Stanford, Nov. 14 where the Eagles upset the Cardinal 67-61, and Nevada-Las Vegas (Nov. 22). Eastern's next home contest is Dec. 17 when they entertain Cal State Northridge.

New Eastern Washington men's basketball coach Shantay Legans will be out to prove the polls wrong.

In 2016-17 as an assistant to head coach Jim Hayford, who dashed off to Seattle University, Legans helped guide the Eagles to a runner-up finish in the Big Sky Conference after the team was predicted to finish as high as fifth or as low as seventh.

Eastern has again been tabbed sixth in media voting and seventh by the coaches in the annual poll released Friday, Oct. 13. Idaho, Weber State and Montana hold down the top three positions in both polls for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
