Cheney Community Church

It’s that time of year again. Cheney Community Church is serving as a drop-off center for Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Christmas Boxes. OCC is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse where shoeboxes are filled with toys and other items and then sent to children around the world. The OCC national collection week is Nov. 13 – 20, which means that the collection has been going on all this week. However, it is not too late to bring your boxes.

Shoeboxes can be brought to the church any time this week during these hours of operation: Monday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – noon, Thursday, 4 – 6 p.m., Friday, 4 – 7 p.m., Saturday, noon – 3 p.m., Sunday, 1 – 6 p.m., Monday (Nov. 20) 9 – 11 a.m. Put a smile on a child’s face. Fill a shoebox.

Empty shoeboxes are still available. Call the church at 235-4841 to make arrangements for pick-up. For more information go to http://www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.

Come join us for Sunday worship. Children’s church and nursery care are provided during the service. Our youth group, “Holy Flame,” for high school and middle school youth, meets every Monday at 6 p.m. for dinner, followed by Bible study from 6:30 – 8 p.m. AWANA Club for boys and girls meets Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. There are classes for pre-K through 12th-grade. A number of fellowship groups called “Connexion Groups,” meet during the week at different locations throughout the community. If interested, contact the church office for specific locations at (509) 235-4841.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit.

The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside this Sunday.

Our Thanksgiving service will be Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. This will be a joint service with Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry, ELM, meets every Monday at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship, and invites all college students to join us. For more information contact Soule at (509) 844-2553.

Choir practice is every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary, under the direction of Alexandra Rannow. Please come and sing with us.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

For your contemplation: “Do not pray for easy lives; pray to be stronger. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers; pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you yourself shall be a miracle. Every day you shall wonder at yourself, at the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of God.” – Phillip Brooks.

United Methodist Church

The sermon series on Moses continues this Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Please join us for worship as pastor Pat Sleeth preaches “Shine Moses Shine.” Preceding the worship there is a multi-age Sunday school class at 9 a.m. and an adult class discussing “The Book of Joy.”

Immediately following worship there is an all church potluck Thanksgiving meal. You won’t want to miss this time of fellowship and wonderful food.

You may call the church office at 235-4600 for information and study opportunities.
