Elmer D Gibbons, 82, of Medical Lake, went peacefully to the arms of his Lord and Savior Oct. 17, 2017. Born in Pine City, Wash. to Ray and Beulah Gibbons, he graduated from Pine City High School as valedictorian and went on to graduate from Washington State College with a bachelor of science in agriculture.

Following graduation from college Elmer was drafted into the United States Army. Elmer married Jerene Appell Sept. 19, 1959. In 1960 he began working for the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Upon retirement from the state, he went to work for RR Warehouse as a project manager. Five years later he joined H & R Block as a tax preparer where he was employed for 21 years.

In July of 1997 he purchased a small farm west of Medical Lake to live his dream of farming. He enjoyed many hours of putting up hay, riding horses on the farm and driving his team of draft horses at community and church events.

He is survived by his wife Jerene of 58 years, his sister Neva Henning, his children Sage and (Kathy) Gibbons and (Rob) and Jeanel Shipley, grandchildren Lori Webb, Chad Bliven, Jeanea Riddle, Alaina Akiona, 14 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorial service to be held Sunday, Nov. 5 at Cheney Faith Center, 200 N. Second St., Cheney, at 2 p.m.
