Blackhawk swimmers compete, but lose at Ellensburg

Cheney High’s girls swimming team “did good” in their first turn in the competitive pool last Saturday at Ellensburg. The Blackhawks came up on the short end of the team scoring, however, losing 105-65 to a Bulldogs team Cheney head coach Jennifer Hochwalt said was very experienced and fast.

Isabell Williams notched the only first-place finish for the Blackhawks, winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 12.40 seconds, with Echo Mecklenburg not far back in third in 1:18.22. Cheney did have a number of second-place finishes, including all three relays, and landed at least one swimme...
