The map above shows locations where wells have been sampled and are currently undergoing sampling.
The most recent results from Fairchild Air Force Base regarding of testing water wells for perfluorocarbon contamination were announced last week along with a map providing citizens of the testing from the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC).
Even though the other sampling is still in progress, 27 wells have not had any detectable perfluorocarbon levels while 12 wells were below the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) lifetime health advisory and one was found to have concentrations above.
The Air Force has been providing bottled drinking water to those in the affected areas. Residents in the current sampling areas who have not been talked to are being asked to contact the 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office at 509-247-5705 or 92arw.pa@us.af.mil.
"While AFCEC continues testing wells in the current sampling areas, we will fulfill our commitment of releasing information to our neighbors as soon as we receive it," Col. Ryan Samuelson, the 92nd Air Refueling commander said in a press release. "We welcome residents to continue contacting us with any questions or concerns as we work with community and regulatory partners to understand the scope and source of this issue."
The EPA's lifetime health advisory is in regards to 70 parts per trillion of PFOS/PFOA for drinking water.
These results are from the fourth phase of testing since Airway Heights had been notified of having water above the EPA advisory back in May.
