Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, Aug. 27. Coffee hour follows the worship service. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney.

Emmanuel is having a “Garden Basket” raffle to raise funds for our church organ repair. This event is open to the community to participate. Ticket prices are $1 each or six for $5. Tickets are available through the church office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – noon or Sunday morning before or after worship. Here are a few items available: garden yard cart, shovel, bypass lopper, pruner, pruning saw, small garden tools, small trellis and more.

The drawing will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1 at noon. Participants do not need to be present to win. For more information please call (509) 235-6300. This is a Thrivent team project.

Mark your calendars for a joint Emmanuel Lutheran/StageWest Community Theatre “Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre” on Friday Nov. 17. All funds raised will go to new church flooring. More information to come.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food and personal care items are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Thank you for your support.

Four Lakes Community Church

We are a non-denominational Village Missions Church. We exist to exalt the Lord, to educate and edify the saints and evangelize the lost. All are welcome.

Our upcoming sermon series by pastor Sean Carney will be on Ephesians 4:17-24 entitled “Off With the Old, in With the New.” Our worship services combine contemporary choruses and traditional hymns.

Join us for Wednesday music practice at 6:30 p.m. and Friday men’s breakfast and Bible study at 7 a.m. AWANA will begin on Thursday Sept. 14.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside this Sunday.

Our community garden is growing and the vegetables are ripening. We look forward to all summer giving its proceeds to the Cheney Food Bank.

Attention all college students: The Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist Campus Ministry is on break for the summer. ELM will resume meeting every Monday at 5 p.m. for dinner, study and worship come September. For more information contact Soule at (509) 844-2553.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

United Methodist Church

Hear the often told story of David and Goliath this Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Lessons from Sunday School, “All Grown Up” will continue with pastor Pat Sleeth preaching and pastor Alissa Bertsch Johnson assisting with the service.

At 4 p.m. on Sunday, there will be a pool party at Johnson’s home. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share and join in the fun and fellowship.

Two mission projects are in progress at UMC. School supplies are being collected for Cheney Outreach and coats are being collected for the community coat drive.
