Eagles put preseason record to test hosting Weber State, ISU

A promising start to the season – its best in three decades – begins anew at 0-0 for the Eastern Washington University men’s basketball team with Big Sky Conference play.

The Eagles host league favorite and defending champion Weber State Thursday, Jan. 1, followed by a visit from Idaho State Saturday, Jan. 3. Both games tipoff at 2:05 p.m. at Reese Court.

“We had some big road wins and some games we lost that we would have loved to win,” Eastern head coach Jim Hayford said. “All in all, we’re very proud of having the best non-conference record in Eastern’s Division I history.”

Eastern, which enjoyed its best non-conference record in 28 seasons as a member of the Big Sky Conference, is 9-4.

The EWU women, 7-4, and also with their best preseason record in a decade, face the same teams in their conference opener, but do so on the road.
