MLHS students win high musical honors

On Saturday, Feb. 9, several Medical Lake High School music students shared their talent at the Northeast region’s solo/ensemble competition at East Valley High School.

Stephanie Burris won in the clarinet division for the second consecutive year. Kris Isherwood took top honors in the soprano/alto saxophone division. Danielle Burris won the flute division. Catie Sweet is the first alternate for the trumpet division. From the vocal department, Madeline Edgar, Brooke Bremer and Ethan Lewan won the mixed ensemble division and Romana Hyde ended up taking second alternate in the soprano solo division.

Medical Lake High School music teachers Heidi Peterson and Craig Johnson said they are proud of the students’ hard work, and noted that it was a big accomplishment.

The six students who won will be competing against the other state regional winners at the All State Solo/Ensemble Festival in Ellensburg, April 26 – 27.
