  • Eastern rolls over Cal Poly

    PAUL DELANEY|Updated Sep 27, 2018

Eastern Washington delivered a 70-17 smackdown of Cal Poly last Saturday in their Big Sky Conference opener in Cheney. The Eagles' win over the Mustangs at Roos Field was a game that seemed out of character for Eastern, at least in the last decade. In a program known for its passing prowess, Eastern's rushing offense doubled its passing attack for the first time in 14 years when the Eagles rushed for the second-most yards in school history. The total of 441 is second only to... Full story

  • Shorthanded ML soccer struggles in pair of losses

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Sep 27, 2018

The last thing Medical Lake head girls soccer coach Zane Higgins needed was injuries on his already thin roster. But that was the case last week where the Cardinals lost a pair of Northeast A League matches, 5-1 at Riverside on Sept. 18 and 6-0 at home to Colville, Sept. 20. Medical Lake (1-4 NEA, 1-6 overall) did earn a nonleague win, 7-0 against Kettle Falls last Saturday. “Injuries are taking a toll,” Higgins said. “We played games on Tuesday and Thursday with only a coupl...

  • Offense lags in winless week for ML volleyball

    PAUL DELANEY, Staff Reporter|Updated Sep 27, 2018

Medical Lake head volleyball coach Todd Harr summed up his team’s winless week of play in the Northeast A League quite simply. “As a whole this last week we lost our identity a bit as a team,” Harr wrote in an email, leading to a pair of 3-0 losses, to Riverside on Sept. 18 on the road and to Colville at home Sept. 20. In their 28-26, 25-16, 25-9 loss to the Rams (1-5 NEA, 3-5 overall) the inability to find either offensive or defensive consistency was a determining facto...
