    On Monday, Aug. 6, a series of fires were started along Interstate 90 between Cheney and Medical Lake. Ultimately called the Silver Lake, as of Thurs., Aug. 9 the blaze was listed at having consumed 340 acres of timber, grass and farm land.     Kurt Kraemer. the high-flying former Eastern Washington University All-America triple jumper will be among the 18th class of inductees into the Eastern Athletics Hall of Fame on Sept. 22, 2018.     The Eastern Washington University football team has been ranked ninth in the STATS preseason top 25 poll announced Aug. 6. That poll, as well as a poll of coaches now conducted by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), will be released on a weekly basis once the season begins in September.     The two-time defending Big Sky Conference champions were selected to defend their title, as the Eastern Washington University soccer team was picked to finish first in the Big Sky preseason soccer poll for the second-straight season, the conference announced Aug. 7.
