    Updated Jul 28, 2016

    1. Two big priorities that I have been leading on for Eastern Washington are substantive Veterans Affairs reform and better forest management. I have introduced two pieces of legislation to address these issues: the Faster Care for Veterans Act which requires the VA to utilize off the shelf technology to schedule appointments like is used in doctor's offices across the country. This legislation empowers veterans while giving VA employees more tools to do their jobs...

  • Full story rarely being told in today's political world

    Updated Jul 28, 2016

Quite the Republican Convention last week in Cleveland, huh? In an event where some figured there would be demonstrations and possible walkouts of delegates over Donald Trump earning the party’s nod to face Hillary Clinton, none of that happened. The biggest controversy centered on speeches delivered at Quicken Loans Arena. There was the dissing of Trump by former rival, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in a speech last Tuesday night. Also interesting was how so many media outlets thought Trump’s acceptance speech was considered so “da...

  • Candidate Q&A with Tom Horne

    Updated Jul 28, 2016

    1. We need more good jobs. Logging and mining built this district. Both have been substantially reduced by EPA regulations and by laws that stop logging and mining projects. I would call for congressional review of the EPA and it's regulations, not passed by Congress, and make people suing to stop projects put some skin in the game with loser pay provisions. 2. The House is not deadlocked; they have a Republican majority. The Senate is deadlocked with a Republican majority...

We can put an estimated 13 million people to work at good paying jobs rebuilding America's infrastructure, modernizing our systems making them safe and more efficient. 2. The answer is to level the playing field by getting the...
