    SHANNEN TALBOT, Staff Reporter|Updated Jun 27, 2019

"The blood is coursing through your veins, the adrenaline is coursing throughout your body, your heartbeat is pumping and you get butterflies every time you get to hit the throttle...and take off." Lopez, call sign LOCO, was the man behind the jet in...

    John McCallum, Managing Editor|Updated Jun 27, 2019

Cheney’s AA baseball team dropped a pair of games in American Legion play this past week. The Summerhawks came up on the short end of a 19-9 slugfest June 22 at Mead, and couldn’t find a hole in Ferris’s defense in a 4-0 loss to the Saxons June 24. Cheney managed 14 hits against what Mike Constantine called “good pitching” at Mead, but only four hits against “mediocre” pitching at home against Ferris. The Summerhawks got singles from Justin Ward, Eli Cabot (two hits) and Tate Heuschkel. “It was just one of those days,” Co...

  • Leading by (good) example

    Lee Hughes, Staff Reporter|Updated Jun 27, 2019

The police arrive. A bit of grousing and catcalling is nothing unusual in baseball. What was unusual a...

Just before the 2018-2019 school year started up, former head coach Brad Rasmussen stepped down for personal reasons. “It was late when Brad decided he couldn’t continue for the season,” Chandler said. “I gave him the year — it wasn’t a leave of absence but that’s kind of what I considered it.” Assistant coach J...
