    Milfoil has been an issue at Silver Lake for many years and property owners now will have a chance to alleviate it. At an April 29 meeting at St. Anne’s Parish in Medical Lake, Bruce Bruscia, a member of the ASLO (Associated Silver Lake Owners) announced that property owners received a permit from the Washington state Department of Ecology that will allow for the application of Clearcast herbicide to 150 acres of the lake.     The new features and improvements for Sunset Park keep coming. At its May 4 meeting, The Airway Heights City Council approved the purchase of two new monument signs for the park for the price of $3,913.20.   • Cheney Clean Sweep verdict: Volunteers increase, tonnage drops

    While overall tonnage was down, volunteerism at this year’s Cheney Clean Sweep was at an all-time high. The eighth annual community clean up day had 300 individuals ranging from young to old and from college students to long-time residents taking part in patrolling the city streets, fields and parks looking for debris.     The Airway Heights Police Department is getting ready to change how they manage their reports and records. During an April 13 study session, Police Chief Lee Bennett informed the City Council that the department is looking to partner with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office for a new records management system.     As part of a light agenda last Tuesday night, the Cheney City Council approved a contract with Shamrock Paving for residential street projects later this spring, including work on the city’s 50 Acre Park along Betz Road.
