    A study released by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) reveals an estimated 1 million Americans have been victimized in romance fraud scams with losses nearing $1 billion over the last three years. The study, which can be found at www. bbb.org says the scheme can take a number of months to play out as the scammer gains the victim’s trust.     Cheney High School has announced that has hired Rene Caro as the new head coach for the Blackhawk boys soccer program. In a Feb. 12 news release, CHS athletics director Jeff Chandler said Caro most recently coached soccer at Mount Vernon High School in Western Washington, assisting then-head coach Tony Dabbs.     A cold-shooting third quarter doomed the Cheney High School girls basketball team’s chances of advancing in the District 7 playoffs last Wednesday at West Valley. After taking a 24-18 lead into the locker room at halftime, the Lady Blackhawks had trouble finding the bottom of the net coming out of the break.
