The Lady Blackhawks stayed close early on with visiting East Valley before falling 66-51 to the state’s top-ranked 2A team last Tuesday, Jan. 29. Cheney trailed by two, 13-11, after the first quarter against East Valley, but were outscored 36-24 over the next two quarters as the Kni...

    SHANNEN TALBOT, Staff Reporter|Updated Feb 7, 2019

In the aftermath of last week’s Super Bowl, something felt different. The electricity in the air leading up to the big game just didn’t sizzle like usual, and I found myself sighing, not smiling, in anticipation. And boy, did it live up to the hype (or lack thereof.) Not only was the overall game painfully boring, tied for three quarters and making history as the lowest-scoring Super Bowl ever with a final tally of 13-3, but I realized something else. I’m so tired of the Patriots. Seeing the New England Patriots take home yet...

It was a battle for supremacy the entire game in the close, 40-38 Card victory and the title that went down to the, nail-biting final seconds. "We knew it would be a close hard fought game," head coach Kyle Lundberg said. "Freeman is a really good team." Medical Lake drew fir...

  • Freeman whomped by Medical Lake

    Lee Hughes, Staff Reporter|Updated Feb 7, 2019

It was a tough fight from tip-off to the final buzzer when the Medical Lake boys B-ball squad (5-7, 7-13) took on the Freeman Scotties (6-6, 9-11) on their home court in the final regular season game of the year. But the Cards had something to prove coming off two back-to-back losses in as many weeks. Samuel Gollhehon sank the games first field goal, but the Scotties answered back with a 3-pointer in the first minutes of the game. The game remained tied until a Cards rally...
